Amy and I are thrilled to introduce our next Pink Lady that is going to take the next Pink Locker Project online class.   Karen Ridgeway is an amazing artist and friend, you simply have to consider doing a class with her.....

"Be Inspired"

Date:     Tuesday February 12th, 2007
Time:     7:00pm – 9:30pm AEDST
Workshop Duration: 2.5hrs
Cost: $15
Where:  Pink Locker Project Headquarters.

Everyone is to choose a photo of a person or object that inspires them somehow. This subject can inspire the workshop participants’ scrapbooking, their parenting, their choice of career, the way in which they have chosen to decorate their home, their morals, their personal philosophy in life, their love of cupcakes or Thai food or sport …absolutely anything is fine, as long as the subject ignites something in you.....

So join Karen for a great night indoors, creating a layout that you will love.

Guest Pink Artist: Ruth Clarke

Here at PLP Central we love seeing the layouts trickle in from our Guest Designers.  Ruthy's was no exception.  Heres what she has to say....

"The power of One that is willing to make a change was very evident to me when reading the story of change for Violette when another mum in the USA -  Liz Hammer became her sponsor. Her life went from  a life of despair to a  life of hope. My way of thinking of my African Sister is that we are both  '2 mums with a dream for ourselves and our families. War and circumstance has taken it's toll on her dream and often shattered it, but with even just 1 connection of sponsorship I can make her world a better place and allow her to dream again and see those dreams become a reality. For this reason I strive to make change!"

Thanks Ruth for a a fantastic layout.  Have a good look at the detail of this layout.  What a fantastic concept.

Well from Amy, myself and everybody at the Pink Locker Project have a happy, joyus Christmas filled with lots and lots of laughter.  2007 is going to be a big year for the Project with all our major events swinging into action.

Just spare a thought on Christmas day for these women who are not as lucky as us, and know that the power to help someone else lies within you.

Suz Doyle's Online Class

Guest Pink Artist - Lee Meredith

Lee Meredith joins the PLP guest artists by contributing ..... "African Women - help put back the pieces"  The message that Lee wanted to communicate was the portrayal of a  broken spirit - using the eye as a focus and a puzzle effect communicating the message to puting the women of Africa back together again".  Wow.  Thanks Lee.

"Hope you like it, I do, it's come to mean a lot to me... after so much research I found a connection and my voice and this is what I wanted to say.  This would be the first LO I've ever done to make a statement instead of record a part of our happy little lives.  It felt good, real good.  I hope we can make some difference... reading all I have has certainly enlightened me.  I'm proud and honoured to have been a part of this... Come to a PINK online class......

Here at the Pink Locker Project we were so awestruck by the talent that we have on our supporting artist team that we decided to use all this talent and give you the time of your scrapping life.  Over the next 8 months we are running online classes by these amazing women, and all the proceeds will be forwarded to Women to Women International at the end of the project.  The Pink Ladies consist of past For Keeps Elite Team Members, International Design Team Contributors and their work is nothing short of amazing.  If you have time, check out their blogs and drop in to say Hi, they are all beautiful gals and we are so blessed that they are giving up their precious time to help the Pink Locker Project meet their objectives.  The Girls are going to take time out to create a layouts and off the page projects just for you, and you can join them in a class held online either at a participating sponsor's website or here at the PLP headquarters.  We are proud to announce our first three online classes:

December's Class will be run by the stunningly talented - Suz Doyle, who you will all know as For Keeps Newest Elite Team Member.   Details of Suz's Class, which I have seen the amazing sneak peaks will be posted this week.

In January we are running two online classes, the first will be held by the Oh So Cute and Delightful Nic Wright and bookings can be made at the Scrapboxx website.  The Online Class will be held on  Tuesday 23rd January 8.30pm EST. 

Our second online class for this month will be tutored by the Doodling Diva hereself, Karen Ridgeway.  Details of Karen's Class will be posted soon.

Sneak Peaks of all these classes will be loaded up very very soon.

Guest Pink Artist: Amelia McIvor

You will notice from time to time, new layouts will appear on this blog.  The girls who are designing these pages, are doing so in their own spare time, because they believe in what we are doing. 

Amy and I have decided to get all these layouts together at the end of the Project and pick a number of layouts to go into the Pink Locker Project Book.

This is where we would love to invite YOU to contribute to our project.  You could be in the running  to possibly be published in the official PLP Book in 2007.

The winning layouts will be judged by a myriad of people, from all walks of life, not only scrappers, so you have the knowledge that the layouts that are picked are judged fairly on visual impact and appeal.  So get scrapping.  Do something different.  Be aware of what is happening in the world and become part of our project.  We can't wait to see what you do......

We love this layout by Amelia - it is so powerful, take the time to read what she is trying to communicate...... words can be such a powerful medium.

Making a Difference....

My gorgeous friend Sus Johannes, let me put this layout on the blog.
Read and consider.......

"This is Ibrahim. He lives in Ethiopia. His father is a farmer who depends on seasonal rain for his livelihood. Ibrahim is 8 but doesn't go to school because his family can't afford it. I have been meaning to sponsor a child for a long time. Like most people it was just a matter of getting around to it. Last Christmas I was at the shops with my girls looking for Christmas presents. There was a World Vision booth there trying to get sponsors for children. Here I was at the shops looking for "more" toys for my girls who
already have so much. Ibrahim's face and plight touched something in me.   And
we agreed to sponsor him.

It is such a small amount every month and we don't even notice it is gone. Ibrahim and his family notice the money though. Who  knows what effect our small donation will have on his life? Will he be able to go to school (something we all take for granted)? Will he grow up to be a teacher? Whatever the outcome I know we have changed his world.......for the better".

That's a fantastic example of passion in action.  A passion to make the world a better place and to give one small little boy a chance.

That's what we want to do at the Pink Locker Project.  We have a vision that women who have children like Ibrahim can offer their children a chance in life.
